It is a history of Burgher as claimed by the author, but also a contribution to the history of the country. It deals with the indigenization on or Ceylonisation of the Burgher during the course of the nineteenth century. It deals with the Westernization of a middle class which began in 1940`s and which gathered momentum after the political changes of 1956. |
